Narrative
Comments on plants harvested in nature: Perennial woody. Plants approximately 4-6 feet in height. Orangish-red fall color. Pinkish seed pods. In 2014 and 2015, plants growing in cultivation at NCRPIS exhibited a fair amount of powdery mildew with poor quality fall color (peaking typically last week in October), but plants showed above average amounts of vigor. For central and eastern Iowa, PI 662022 would be a more appropriate selection. For potential planting locations west of the Missouri River, PI 495607 may exhibit good ornamental characteristics.
