Narrative
Agricultural land, sometimes on edge of small maize fields. Plants to 2.5m tall. Rhizomes, 3 to 15cm growth each year, short, thick tuberous offshoots 1 x 3cm, one to several from base of culms. F 1 hybrids with maize occur. Diploid number 20.
