Description:
Shoshone beardless wildrye was directly increased without selection and released as a cultivar. The germplasm was originally collected from a saline area along the Wind River on the southern outskirts of Riverton, Wyoming. Although beardless wildrye, Leymus trititcoides is a native, it was later to be identified as Leymus multicaulus which has an Asian origin. A Shoshone Breeders Block has been maintained vegetatively at the Bridger PMC since its release in 1980. Foundation seed is produced at the Bridger PMC for distribution to commercial seed growers. Both Registered and Certified seed is recognized.
