Narrative
Salt tolerant perennial. Culms flexible, vary from 45 to more than 120cm tall and to 1.25cm in diameter. Leaves flat, 30-50cm long, 47-143mm wide, tapering to long involute tip. Plants have creeping rhizomes that are firm and scaly and form extensive colonies. Seedheads produced Sept. and Oct. and are approx. 25-30cm long. Spikes oppressed, 5-15cm long with spikelets flattened laterally and usually closely overlapping on one side of the continuous rachis. Principle conservation use is to vegetate and stabilize tidal stream banks as well as to construct and restore wetlands
