Narrative

Winter annual legume well-adapted to southwestern U.S. Height ranges up to 90cm, with trailing pubescent stems up to 2m long. Leaves with branched tendrils, 5.8-12cm long, with 14-20 leaflets (mostly elliptic) 1-2.6cm long, 4-8mm wide, possessing sparse, short hairs on leaflet surfaces. Racemes secund, 3-7.5cm long, with 7-30 densely clustered purple or lavender flowers; <1% are white. Pods, 3-7 per raceme, 1.5-5.3cm long, each with 2-7 seeds, usually black. Bloom dates May 5-17 and maturity dates May 30- June 22 at Americus, Georgia
