Narrative
Disturbed road verges into mixed Msasa woodland. Grows in patches, also in adjacent open woodland that is apparently undisturbed. Perennial, mostly 50 to 70cm high, base strongly flattened, leaf sheaths folded, blades sharply keeled. Inflroescence digitate, racemes 5 to 8, brown. 2 forms occur, 1 with bright green leaves, other blue-green. This is the blue-green form. Granite gravel and rubble soil.
