Narrative
Head open; glumes cover seed, straw to chocolate color, awned. Red seeded PI 330272 segregated into red seeded plants and white seeded plants. Growth habit was the same for both seed colors. A red seeded row was planted and a separate white seeded row was planted. The red seeded row still segregated for seed color (both red and white seeded plants), while there was no variation for seed color in the white row. There was segregation for glume color in both rows (mostly black glumes but a few plants with red glumes). This accession was maintained as the red seeded type and will probably still segregate for seed color. PI 663869 is the accession identifier for the white seeded row.
