Narrative
The stock is segrgating because the mutant is homozygotic lethal. In each generation the normal plants have to be discarded before breeding. The plants with narrow leaves and weak stems are heterozygous. They have to be artif. self poll. because the style is longer than the anthers. Pollen of flower on its own style, flowers isolated by paper bags to avoid contam. Use several flowers per plant, seed set very low! Mutation is very rarely inherited by pollen, but present in 50% of egg cells. The Id. number refers to Dr. Hartes seed bk, Cross 28, plant a, made 1991.
