Narrative
Normal mendelian segregation for both loci, sterilis and brevistylis. The stock cont. both genes is maintained by backcrossing in each generation. Male sterile plants with norm. style are crossed with pollen from sister plants with short style and fert. anthers. The loci ster and br are not linked and also not linked to the lethal factor of velans. 4 types will be observed: male ster, norm style, male fert. short style, male ster, short style, and male fert. normal style. Last 2 are discarded. The Others are used for the backcross. This stock is only one that carries the 2 genes.
