Genetic constitution of this stock is deprimens.stringens according to the genetical nomenclature of Oenothera. The Renner-complex stringens contains the pollen sterile allele fr. The species is a constant heterozygote. The species is not identical with Oenothera strigosa Rydb. of the taxon. literature but is used under this name in genetical experiments by geneticists in a multitude of papers. All of them used this stock, derived from the cultures of de Vries. The number is the number of the seed book of Prof. Harte and means Cross No. 1 made in 1992.
