Narrative
Seedlings DJUG 125 and DJUG 144 share same PI number. Walnut 125 rootstock paradox. Average nut weight 8 grams; kernel output 54.4 percent; oil content 73.8 percent; protein content 16.5 percent. Tree survives -33C. Chico Source tree of Seedling DJUG 144 was evaluated in the 1969 timeframe with the following results: Low yield: Late harvest season; 28mm diameter; Payne shape; Good separation of kernel, Good shell seal; 44 percent kernel; kernel weight 3.6 grams; Light amber kernel.
