Narrative
pistachio 44 rootstock terebinthus. According to records of the former PI Station, Chico, California, this unnamed seedling was introduced as seed from Vilmorin, Adrieux and Co., Paris, France 5/18/1940 and planted 3/23/1942. It is labelled P. terebinthus but appears to be false. This tree is very vigorous. Of 7 seedlings obtained all were males; two were retained. It is similar in leaf to a type seen as a rootstock near Gaziantep, Turkey. Retained for potential rootstock breeding.
