  • although Tanaecium crucigerum has been treated as a new taxon that does not include the type of Bignonia crucigera L., Seemann did not exclude the name itself, which did not have a type at the time, and therefore published a new combination rather than a new taxon (Shenzhen ICN Art. 48.1)
  • while T. crucigerum is a nomenclatural synonym of Bignonia crucigera, it is not a taxonomic synonym and requires a new name
