Narrative
Type = Plum. Per C. Fuller (see citation): "The color of the fruit is dark red, ripening to darker red; dots numerous, russet, areolar; bloom, whitish or bluish; flesh, dark red, firm; stone, medium in size, cling; flavor and quality good; season very early; thrives on peach stock." Per Evaluation of Introduced Plum Varieties (see citation): "Fruit Characteristics: Size - Diameter 3.3cm, length 3.3cm; Shape - Roundish to round; Skin - Purple, medium bloom; Flesh - Red, soft to medium firm; Flavor - Sugar medium, acid low to medium; Quality - Fair; Stone - Wholly cling, medium size; Yield - Medium; Season - Last two weeks in June. Comments: Methley has been grown commerically in some areas of this country as an early shipping plum."
