Environment description: Terraced land in full sun, river valley in mountains.
Comment: Fruit said to be large, round, red, with very hard texture. Harvested in September(?); keeps about 3 weeks. May be different from kharnak I (T&B 880723) and Kharnak III (T&B 880731).

Narrative
Pyrus sp. 'Kharnak II' (donkey pear). Scions collected from cultivated tree by M. Thompson and D. Brenner on 25 November, 1988 in Pakistan (Northwest Frontier, Swat District) near village of Jahanabad (about 25 km NE of Mingora on the Malam Jabba Road). Tree is growing on a small farm at 1300 m elevation; Latitude 34 48' N, Longitude 72 31' E. Collectors note: Fruit said to be large, round, red, with very hard texture. Harvested in September (?), keeps about 3 weeks. May be different from Kharnak I and II. - Collection notebook, 1988. Duplicate accession record for PI 688076
