Narrative
Long-lived perennials. Summer crops waist-high, dark-green leaves and robust, tall seed stalks, forked inflorescences with are brown to purplish at maturity. Prominent awns with considerable variation in amount of pubesence in seed heads. Superior forage yield to local prairie types. Best produced in irrigatred rows with added nitrogen. Recommended for use in eastern and southern Nebraska for forage conservation.
