Narrative
Leafy vegetable adapted to the tropics and subtropics. Attractive purple spots on leaf blades. Flowers purple, spike-type, becoming white in age. Leaves should be cooked by boiling to remove oxalic acid. Matures seeds in Florida, but flowers too late for seed maturity in Iowa.
