Narrative
Robust appearance, heavy trunk, long leaves. Relative absence of astringency/objectionable tannin flavor in khalal stage. Excellent flavor, regarded as one of best dessert dates. Cures/keeps well but delicate flavor gradually diminishes under ordinary storage conditions. Fruit more subject to checking and splitting than that of other varieties. High yields (250-350 lbs./palm). Few offshoots (6-8). Sensitive to cold. Female plant.
