Narrative
Type = Wine grape. A wine grape important in various blends for the white vines of south-western France, especially in the wine districts in the Pyrenees. The Petit-Manseng is a vigorous vine regularly producing only light crops. The clusters are small, winged with round, whitish-green berries that ripen late. This is an essential grape in the wines of the Jurancon. When in this controlled appellation, the Petit-Manseng develops an incidence of 'Pourriture Noble' (Botrytis Cinerea) in favorable seasons, and concomitantly with careful harvest selection: The resulting musts attain elevated sugar levels, yielding wines of unique quality and lusciousness.
