Description:
The Rodale Research Center found RRC 19 to have mixed types by 1977 and separated it into RRC 19A (Ames 1976) with white and gold seeds and RRC 19B (Ames 1977) an African Vegetable type Amaranthus cruentus received at the National Plant Germplasm System as black seeds. RRC 19B may have originated from contamination at the RRC. In 2024 Ames 1977 was made unavailable as a transitional step toward eventual inactivation.
