Narrative
Type = Tetraploid. Per Brooks and Olmo (see citation): "ORIG: in Geneva, New York, by N.Y. State Agr. Exp. Sta. Introd. in 1938. Hubbard x Portland; cross made in 1925; selected in 1932. DESCRIPTION: Fruit: cluster larger than Concord, to 300 gm, conical with large shoulders, loose; berry medium, ellipsoidal; skin reddish-black, cracks easily; fair adherence; flavor foxy; ripens 3 weeks earlier than Concord; does not hold or ship well. Vine: vigorous; bears heavy crops, often only in alternate years; labrusca type."
