Locality: Chitral district, NWFP province, northwest of Chitral; Chitral Gol National Park - 200m west of Casaveer, near and abandoned farm; general topography = mountains
Coordinates: 35.8333, 71.6333 (Map it)
Elevation: 2200m.
Environment description: Full sun exposure; 10-30 degree slope; north aspect; soil = loam, derived from shale; surrounded by Cotoneaster
Number of plants sampled: 5
Comment: This was the only site where this species was seen, and the National Herbarium does not have a speciman. Thus, it may be rare in Pakistan. Probably in sub-genus cerasus

Type = Cherry. Per the collection observation notes of Maxine Thompson: "Tree 5m tall X 2m wide, healthy; harvest date Aug. 15; fruit elongate; flesh red; skin red; sour taste; seed elongate; locals cut back for firewood and animal forage; upright narrow branch resembles Bradford pear; most plants were not fruiting; estimated 50 plants in population; potential cherry rootstock or ornamental."
