Locality: Kagan, Hazara district, NWFP province; from trees on P.A.R.C. summer research station; general topography = river valley in the mountains
Coordinates: 34.7500, 73.5333 (Map it)
Elevation: 2030m.
Environment description: Full sun exposure; no slope (terraces); loam soil, moderate stoniness; good drainage; surrounded by other deciduous fruit trees and wheat
Number of plants sampled: 3
Comment: Trees were all seedlings whose suckers are used as rootstock for Prunus Avium. This species appears to be somewhat naturalized in the region of collection; in English name means "sour cherry"

Type = Cherry. Per the collection observation notes of Maxine Thompson: "Harvest date late June-early July; fruit rounded, moderately attractive; skin over color = dark red to black; flesh red, moderately firm; skin bloom low; skin cracking very low; trees not particularly healthy looking at time of collection; eaten fresh locally; potentially good as rootstock; fruit too small for direct use on all trees seen; trees scattered inh the valley - mostly near farms, but not always."
