Narrative
Tip layer from a large specimen that was growing over a native bush Lianes or bushy scramblers, leaves mostly 3-foliate, margins serrate (3-9 teeth per side), numerous small red prickles persistent on stema and all leaf and inflorescence axes. Leaflets lanceolate, midrib armed. Our plants, although received in 1986 remain in juvenile condition in 2014. Note from NZ Department of Conservation, 2019: This species has juvenile and adult forms as well as a suite of morphological variation throught its range. While hybridism with R. cissoides is recorded, it is a very rare event. Full sun is vital to initiate flowering and all native species are dioecious.
