Narrative
Type = Plum. Per 'Research Note: A Late Mid-season Plum Cultivar Redgold' (see citation): "Fruits are large, averaging 5.1 cm in diameter. Skin colour is greenish-yellow with a rose-coloured blush when picking-ripe. The fruit has a good flavour, ripens during the third to fourth week of January, that is, approximately four weeks after Santa Rosa. Keeping quality is very good. Trees of this cultivar are upright in growth habit, vigorous and resistant to delayed foliation. Fruit, leaves and shoots are apparently resistant to bacterial spot (Xanthomonas pruni). The cultivar is self-incompatible, the recommended cross-pollinators being Santa Rosa, Eldorado and Songold. Redgold is recommended as suitable for the export trade and for growing in areas prone to bacterial spot infection."
