Narrative
'Red Pearl' originated in Boskoop, The Netherlands in 1981 by A. Blanken. Wide, bushy plant, upright in growth habit, height 20-30 cm; 5-12 fruit in clusters, large fruited (7-12 mm), round, ripening in September-October. -- E.J. Stang. 1994. Lingonberry Cultivars - Building Blocks for an Industry. Fruit Varieties Journal 48(1):3-6.
Red Pearl. Low-yielding but heavily planted due to its suitability as a pollinizer. Plants have an upright, vigorous growth habit, are 13 to15 inches (33 to 38 cm) tall, spread nicely, and have dark green foliage. Berries are small to medium-size (0.18 gram), bright red, and grow on thebranch tip. Introduced to the U.S. by Elden Stang in 1983. Country of origin: Holland. Ross Penhallegon. 2006. Lingonberry Production Guide for the Pacific. Northwest. PNW 583-E
