Locality: Swain County. Heintooga Ridge Spur Rd. off Blue Ridge Parkway (now called Balsam Mtn. Rd), 1.8 km below the Heintooga Parking Area.
Elevation: 1730m.
Environment description: Roadsides with a general western aspect. Associated vegetation: Vaccinium simulatum and Rubus canadensis abundant; one clone of unconfirmed V. constablaei found, along with several adjacent V. pallidum plants.
Comment: Small sample of O.P. fruit from one 15 m tree.
