Narrative
Hardy and well adapted to the Swedish (origin) climate. High yield (8-10 tons/ha) and berries ripen uniformly. High ornamental value. Received 900.002 4-27-93 from #SERR1. 'Sussi' is spreading in habit, reaching 6 to 10 inches in height. Production is moderate and ripening is uniform with berries averaging medium to large. Sussi is quite vigorous and has excellent color in the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. It is a good pollinator for Sanna. --Fall Creek Catalog, 1997.'Sussi' originated in Copenhagen, Sweden by Professor Swen Dahlbro. Evaluated as selection BV-40 and released in 1985 by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Division of Fruit Breeding in Balsgard. Originated as a selection from seed collected in Smaland, Sweden. Lowbush plant form with erect shots 15-25 cm height, flowering late May in southern Sweden; berries globular, dark red, large (0.4 g/fruit) uniformly ripening about 20 August in Sweden. Productive, averaging 11 fruit per cluster. -- E.J. Stang. 1994. Lingonberry Cultivars - Building Blocks for an Industry. Fruit Varieties Journal 48(1):3-6.
