Narrative
Type = Cherry. Recieved as Cerasus glandulosa. Shrub or small tree 1-6m high, with smooth bark, young twigs reddish. Leaves oblong-obovate to oblanceolate, acute or acutish at apex, narrowed to near the base, 2-5cm. long, glandular-serrate, glabrous above and nearly so beneath at least at maturity; flowers appearing with the leaves in small corymbose clusters; hypanthium campanulate, glabrous, about 3mm. high; sepals oblong, obtuse, about 2mm long; petals obovate 6-7mm long; drupe 6-8mm in diameter, bright red, very bitter and astringent; stone ellipsoid, somewhat pointed at each end.
