Narrative
Observed and charted by W.A. Gustafson and Todd M. Morrissey at Southeast Research and Extension Center, Lincoln, NE in 1989 during comparison of 40 black walnut cultivars/clones for protandry (Type I)/protogyny (Type II) and adequated cross pollination with the following results: pollen shedding - May 8-18. No female flowers in 1989, probably due to a late spring frost on May 6.
