Narrative
Type = French Hybrid. Growing tip: glabrous. Young leaves: cuneiform, medium, 135-3-56, three-lobed 21, faintly contorted, smooth, shiny, convex resembling and upturned umbrella, glabrous below; petiolar sinus lyre-shaped; teeth convex, narrow. Shoot: glabrous, large iwth long internodes and inconspicuous nodes. Cluster: medium, long and narrow, compact; berries small, round, slightly pulpy, acid. Growth habit: trailing. Chelois is an early ripening, moderately productive variety. It's budbreak is late which reduces the danger of spring frost, and if the primary buds are injured, it will have a small secondary crop. Chelois has a fairly good resistance to disease and is considered medium hardy in New York. It does not do well in droughty conditions.
