Locality: Collected in Batrik, Chitral, 1km northwest of Brumboret, on the edge of a farm, near an irrigation ditch, up a small side gully on south-facing slope - Noormian's Farm.

Environment description: River valley in the mountains. Full sun exposure. Slope of 45 degrees, south aspect. Silty-loam soil, moderate stones. Well drained.

Comment: Collected by Maxine Thompson, David Brenner, and the Staff of the Plant Genetic Resource Center, N.A.R.C., Pakistan. Noormian told the collectors that this tree has among the thinnest shells of any in this valley, but none are very thin. Nut maturity said to be the earliest in the valley. To harvest, they climb the tree and knock the nuts off.
